Hi Nancy!

I am so excited to have you as my coach.. it is so nice to have a woman close to my age who went through the same struggles and understands what I am going through!  I am 45 years old, 5'2 and my current weight is 148.  I puffed up all the way to 167 just a couple of months ago without even realizing it! I used to work as a Paramedic, on 24 hour shifts and adopted the worst eating, sleeping and workout habits of my life! Since then I have quit my job (not worth my health) joined Nutrisystems and invested in some Zumba classes.  Recently I bought the Insanity workout but haven't gotten it yet.  The women's basic plan is about 1100 to 1300 calories a day.  I do not take any other supplements other than a multivitamin and a counselor at NS added an extra protein to my day which I take in the form of a whey protein drink.  My question is do you think I will need to take in more calories?  I have been losing consistently 1 - 2lbs per week since starting and while I am very impatient and think this is too slow I am happy it is coming off!  Also, should I also do some kind of weight training along with the Insanity?  I do use Jilian Michaels circuit training DVD every other day along with the Zumba.  I do drink a ton of water.. between 104 to 130 ounces per day and do not drink soda's at all. Occasionally I will have unsweetened iced tea.  Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated!  Again, I am so happy I came across you! You definitely have motivated more than I thought was possible! I was pretty motivated already but you make me feel like I can look great again at my age!

Hi Mxmom,

Yes you need more than 1100 - 1300 calories.  I'd go for 1400 for 6 days a week and then take a cheat day and up your calories on that one day.  You do need a good whey protein for muscle development and repair.  Also the whey protein can help you burn more fat (always a good thing).  I did respond to you in the comments section but I'm happy to keep a conversation running here.

Sorry Nancy.. I didn't see your comment in the comment section and I get a little ansy!  I am just so excited! LOL... Okay I will talk to the counselors' at NS and have them add to my program..if they won't I will be asking you what I should add!  Do you think I should also do some lifting while on Insanity?  My boyfriend has P90X but I have not tried that yet...You rock!

I'm a bigger fan of P90X because of the resistance training than I am of Insanity actually.  I have a P90X/Insanity hybrid workout here in the forums.  It mentions a Kettlebell routine but you may just ignore that part without losing anything.

Nancy if I choose to do your hybrid program without the kettle balls (I don't have any) should I replace that routine with Insanity and if so, which ones do you suggest I do?

Hi Tammy,

Do NOT add in any more Insanity to the mix - that would be too much.  For the first 2 weeks, skip the kettlebell workouts (just pretend they aren't there) and see how you fare.  If things are going wall and you then believe your system can tolerate more exercise (we do not want to raise your cortisol levels too much) then you could add in sprint HIITs (high intensity interval training) sessions 2 or 3 times per week.

I'd structure the sprint HIITs as 2 minutes light running for warm up then cycle 30 seconds sprinting as hard as you can withe 30 seconds of a brisk walk or slow run.  Do 8 - 10 cycles.  Walk to cool down.

Okay... thank you!  I added you as my coach when I signed up on Beach Body but they assigned me some guy as well... I can't figure out how to change it.

Hi Tammy,

You are not assigned to me.  When you buy a product you'll get assigned to someone automatically and to change that you need to send an email to coachrelations@beachbody.com and tell them you want Nancy Andrews, email: pressplayfitness@gmail.com and coach ID 31305 to be your coach.  Be sure to tell them the full name and email used when you originally signed up and if you would, copy me on the email so I can make sure it gets done.
