Body Beast Review: Does Body Beast Work?
Does It Really Work? How Beachbody’s Body Beast Can Add 10lbs of Muscle in 90 Days
Are you looking for a program that will finally allow you to bulk up without adding fat? Find your inner Beast with the Body Beast program from former Israeli army vet and bodybuilder Sagi Kalev. In this newest Beachbody workout program, Sagi shows you how to get BIG while maintaining low body fat.
Body Beast sets a new standard for muscle growth by using intensive training protocols and a specific nutrition plan that focuses on how to add mass quickly – easily 10lbs or more if you push yourself – over the 90 day program. With results like that, what do you have to lose?
My Body Beast Review:
I wasn’t totally sure what to expect. I’ve done P90X and P90X2 and wondered if this would be nothing more than a re-hash of those workouts with a newer, younger face to look at. To my surprise, this is different. In short, this is an iron based program. You lift weights – You grow big. If you have tried to put on mass before and failed, you can trust Sagi’s dynamic training sets. Coming off of a P90X hybrid, I seriously doubted I’d feel much of an impact. And when Sagi started out on the first chest exercise (chest and tri’s is your first workout) I almost laughed at how light Sagi and his team were lifting. Buy my skepticism and doubt were quickly eliminated when I started to struggle in the first giant set. And the next day I was greeted by muscle soreness I have not felt in years.
This is a program seriously devoted to building a lot of muscle. Unlike P90X which is focused on strength, balance and endurance, this is a lot more focused. No yoga in this program (nor kenpo). You do get a complimentary P90X Plyometrics workout but it’s not officially part of the program (although you could use it to change up your rare cardio days). Phase 1 only has 1 cardio day in the 6 day workout week. You pump iron! The program uses Dynamic Set Training™ that will fatigue your muscles more than you ever thought possible with Single Sets, Super Set, Giant Sets, Progressive Sets, Drop Sets, Tempo Sets, and more. In return, your muscles reward you by getting huge.
Body Beast does require more equipment (mostly weights) but an adjustable bench in my opinion is highly recommended. You also need a pull up bar which for anyone who’s done P90X, should now be standard equipment.
I suppose a total beginner could start with this program but it’s not my recommendation. If you are just starting out, I feel P90X would be better as it will provide a great foundation of fitness off of which you could then add more mass with Body Beast.
The set is simple. Sagi is focused on growing you muscle and isn’t the greatest at funny banter but growing muscle is the goal so who cares? The workouts go by super fast and I look forward to doing them each day. This is a muscle growing ‘beastly’ workout that has my full recommendation.
