Going a little Primal

Nancy 150 Days 150px Going a little PrimalI’ve decided to evolve (or perhaps that better put as de-evolve) my diet even further from where it is right now.  I’ve been eating a diet that is somewhere between 35% – 40% carb, 35% – 40% protein and 20% – 30% fat.  But recently I discovered Mark Sisson’s site MarksDailyApple.com and have been intrigued by his theories on how we should eat and exercise for optimum health.

Mark’s diet is based on his research on how primitive man may have eaten.  It has a focus on fresh fruit and veggies, quality protein and is a bit more lenient with fat than what I have been eating.  It also recommends we ditch all grains, dairy and legumes.

I’m not so sure I’m ready to leave dairy and legumes behind right now but I am going to foray into a world where I take out grains.  I’m also going to change the weighting of how I eat to more like 30% carb, 35% protein and 35% fat.  And while I’m not taking dairy or legumes out of my diet now, I will de-emphasize them a bit from what I eat now.

What I’m looking to gain is a more stable energy level and increased fat loss while I continue to build a bit more muscle.  I’ll also be looking at skin tone and how my joints feel.  So give me a few weeks and I’ll report back with my results.

  1. I love Mark’s Daily Apple. I bought the book and love the recipes. That is the plan I try to follow but trying to modify for P90X first 90 days.
