What is Really Most Important?

150Day-Thumbnail-3Too often I get comments from women stating that they are not losing enough weight. And almost as often, when I ask, they admit that their clothes are fitting much better and/or that they have lost inches.

And that always makes me wonder why we women tend to obsess about what the scale says. I mean isn’t it really more important how we look and how we feel? Why is that one number so very important to us?

I tell most of my clients that weight isn’t all that important. In fact, I weigh anywhere from 5lbs to 10lbs more than women who are my height and have my same measurements. In fact even through the tape measure says we have the same hip measurement, my bum is so high and tight that I actually look better than some with narrower measurements (their flatter bums mean that their hips are actually wider than mine).

If you were able to fit into a size 4 and weigh 200lbs would you care? Sure that’s an extreme example but I’m trying to make a point. Set your goal in terms of measurements you believe you can hit and then forget about the scale.

You’ll be glad you did!

P.S. Did you know that super lean proteins will increase your body’s metabolic burn rate?  That’s why I recommend you get enough lean protein with high quality protein powders.  I take 2 – 3 shakes a day.  Find my favorite protein powders at http://www.pressplayfitness.com/members/forum/#topic/Protein-Powders.htm

  1. I 100% agree with this & have wondered the same thing! I don’t even own a scale & I haven’t for many years. When I started Insanity, I did weekly measurements & went off that & how I felt. I tell my friends to NOT weigh themselves. Muscle weighs more than fat & for some reason, that’s discouraging. :) Great article!

  2. Thanks for sharing Judy!

I think we women get too influenced by the media which does focus on weight and size 0 twiggy gals.

There’s nothing wrong with being a size 0 if that’s your natural size. It’s not mine. I’m fit and curvy and I like me that way. And if I happen to weigh more than other women, that’s OK by me.
